SSC CGL (Combined Graduate Level Examination) Prelims

The SSC CGL (Staff Selection Commission – Combined Graduate Level) exam is a national-level recruitment test conducted to fill various Group B and Group C posts in the Central Government’s ministries, departments, and organizations.

Exam Structure

1. Tier 1 (Preliminary Exam)

Mode: Online (CBT)

Subjects:

  •     – General Intelligence & Reasoning
  •     – General Awareness
  •     – Quantitative Aptitude
  •     – English Comprehension

Duration: 60 minutes

Total Marks: 200

Negative Marking: 0.50 per wrong answer

2. Tier 2 (Main Exam)

Mode: Online (CBT)

Papers:

  •     -Quantitative Abilities
  •     -English Language and Comprehension
  •     -General Studies (Finance & Economics) – only for specific posts
  •     -General Intelligence & Reasoning

Qualifying Paper-I is necessary for all applicants.

The Computer Knowledge Test & DEST will be mandatory but are qualifying in nature.

Paper II will only be available to applicants who apply for and are shortlisted for the position of Junior Statistical Officer (JSO).

Duration: Varies by paper.

Total Marks: 390–900 (depends on post applied for)

Negative Marking: 1 mark for Quant/English; 0.50 for General Studies
